DBSA - Urbana Champaign Chapter - Support Groups

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance - Urbana Champaign Chapter (DBSA UC) offers peer-led Support Groups at Presence/Provena Covenant Medical Center.  Presence Covenant Medical Center is in Urbana, IL (central Champaign Urbana).  The Medical Center is located at University Ave. and Romine St.  (Romine St. is one block east of Wright St. - the central north entrance to the University of Illinois campus.)

The Medical Center is directly serviced by the Grey #7 (day) and Grey #70 (evening) CUMTD buses.  Other bus lines stop near the Medical Center.

For more information about the bus lines, go to the CUMTD website (www.cumtd.com/) or call (217) 384-8188.

Both the Consumers' Groups on Tuesday and Friday evenings and the Friends & Family Group on Thursday evenings meet in Auditorium CAuditorium C is the first room on the left side of the 1st floor corridor just beyond the Information Desk in the Lobby.

The Consumers' Group on Tuesday evenings meets from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Consumers' Group on Friday evenings meets from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  The Friends & Family Group on Thursday evenings meets from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The Consumers' Group on Tuesday evenings is open to people with Mood, Anxiety, or Dual Diagnosis Disorders.   People who are friends and family members are welcomed as well.

We suggest that Consumers first come to the Tuesday group before attending the Friday one.  The Tuesday group is a larger and more lively group.  The Consumers' Group on Friday evenings is a more intimate group and is closed to non-consumers

The Friends & Family Group is for friends and family members of people who have any kind of mental illness.  The meeting is closed to mental health consumers unless they are friends and family members as well.  (Mental illnesses often run in families.)

If you've never attended a meeting or have only attended a meeting once, we encourage you to come to future meetings. The people in the chapter are very friendly and welcoming. We recommend that you come to the groups with an open mind and try out the groups before making any judgments about them.

If you have any questions, e-mail to dbsa.uc@gmail.com.  You will  receive FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions, Information Fliers, and a Map of Presence/Provena Covenant Medical Center; or call (217) 355-1193 (CST).
